Happy Locktober, from people that do not do Locktober

Happy Locktober! I figured I would put it right in the title so the search engines have something to grab onto.

Lock it up for Locktober

I know we have not written in a while. Life has been busy, and there has not been a whole lot of kinky news to add to the site. No big scene to recap, no new device to unbox, and no dramatic unlock story to tell. It has mostly just been ordinary life, and the cage, which around here is not really news.

That is actually why I wanted to write this.

I went looking for where Locktober even came from, because I was curious. There is not much of a story. Nobody founded it. Nobody owns it. The word just started showing up on chastity forums and kink boards somewhere in the mid-2010s, and a few sites point to 2015 as the first time anyone can actually document it. Before that it was mostly passing comments. From there it did what internet things do. People talked about it on Tumblr, on FetLife, on Reddit, on keyholding blogs, and the next October more people tried it. By 2018 it had an Urban Dictionary entry, which tells you it had already stopped being an inside joke. In 2019 someone made a Locktober subreddit, and that group was past 20,000 members within a few years. Search interest has climbed every October since, and 2024 was roughly double the years before it. People sometimes line it up next to “No Nut November.” That one is the more mainstream cousin. Locktober is the version that usually comes with a cage, and if you are lucky, a keyholder.

Every October now there are traditions attached to it. Dice rolls, shared calendars and even unlock days. Challenges that exist so there is something to post about on November 1st. Every year I read through it and think the same thing. It is strange to me.

We do not do anything special for Locktober.

My guys are locked every day, and they have always been locked every day. October does not change that, and neither does November. We do not pull out a game, a pair of dice, or a calendar and decide that this is the month the cage goes on. We do not lock for the sake of locking, and we do not unlock just because a date on the wall says we should.

A date can matter if it is tied to a real goal, something we agreed on and something he is working toward. That is intention. Locking or unlocking just because the month says so is not how we use chastity.

Chastity is a way of life for us. It is our every day. Being locked is the expectation, and being unlocked is the privilege.

So when I see all of these Locktober traditions, the games and the countdowns and the “we made it” posts on November 1st, it does not map onto our house. I am not knocking it by any means. If a thirty-one day challenge is what gets someone into a device and keeps them honest, that is a fine place to start. A public month can be a useful shove, and that is probably why the idea caught on in the first place. It is just not us.

There is no “we survived Locktober” post waiting at the end of this month, because surviving October was never the assignment. The assignment is the same on the 1st as it is on the 31st, and it is the same on November 1st. Locked, unless I say otherwise.

So Happy Locktober, if you are doing it. We will be over here doing what we already do.

Thinking of you all,
M
